When I heard about this I almost jumped out of my seat.
Could Starbucks really be jumping on the cargo container building bandwagon?
They sure did!
Anthony Perez, a local architect in Seattle, Washington, became inspired while watching the shipping containers outside of his window in the Port of Seattle. It was in this moment when he decided to bring the idea of building a cargo container coffee shop to Starbucks, and with Starbucks drive to always take sustainability to the next level, the idea was right up their alley and they gave him the go.
Perez used three 8x40 cargo containers, as well and a sixteen foot hammerhead for the drive thru, to create an amazing experience for Starbucks customers. The container building is 137 square meters and is LEAN certified. It takes cargo container building to the next level and created an environment that is unique, eco-friendly and incredibly beautiful.
Starbucks experienced so much success with the building that they built another one in Denver, Colorado. I have posted the video I found on YouTube below. It was published by CNN and is a little over four minutes long.
