Cargo Container homes are becoming more and more popular. They offer an individual the opportunity to build a home at a relatively low cost, while also providing the durability and longevity that a traditional home does not.
This family was originally considering installing a prefab home, but due to the location that they picked out in the Northern California Redwoods, they decided that a container home would be more desirable.
As you watch the YouTube video you will see how impressive this home is. It offers both architectural beauty and feasibility. By using multiple cargo containers from the Port of Oakland they were able to build their dream cabin in the woods. An advantage of using the containers as the foundation of the cabin are that it will naturally be fire resistant (more so than a wood cabin or traditional home) and in my opinion more earthquake resistant than a normal home (they do have earthquakes in California!).
The video was published by Kirsten Dirksen and runs roughly nine and a half minutes. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did. It is inspiring and shows how creative you can be with cargo containers!
