A cargo container can literally last for a hundred plus years, and by keeping up with routine maintenance you can extend the life of your box saving you from having to invest in a new one.
When a container does wear down it is typically due to rust. Cargo containers are constructed out of steel and when they are exposed to water over a period of time (keep in mind containers typically start their life off transporting goods on the sea) they tend to naturally rust. These rust spots, if left unattended, can lead to holes which can compromise the structural integrity of the box.
We found this video on YouTube that provides useful information on searching out rust spots and repairing them before they become a major problem. We believe the video will give you a good idea of how to perform basic container maintenance.
