If you are planning on using a cargo container for storage, installing some shelving will certainly come in handy.
One thing to consider before installing your shelving is that it might not be too wise to drill holes via screws or nails directly into the steel side walls of the cargo container. The reason being, is that it will compromise the container from being wind and watertight. Once a hole exists, it is not long before moisture accumulates and you have now opened a can of worms in terms of rust.
Because of this there are a number of creative solutions for shelving that do not require puncturing the surface of the cargo container. One such product is by Insta Container Modifications (they also published the video I will post below as well as are responsible for the pictures I have below).
They did not solict me or pay me for this endorsment. I honestly just like their how to videos and products.
The installation of this shelving system can be done within a few minutes and takes 4 easy steps.
Step 1:
Hang the shelf brackets on the cargo container D-Rings, then attach the t-bars to the bottom of the bracket.
Step 2: Center your boards in the brackets leaving only one inch overhang for every foot between your shelf brackets.
Step 3: Place the board in brackets with the inside meeting edges pointing up and snap boards into place.
Step 4: Repeat the process for all three shelf levels.
There you have it. Any easy to use shelving system that will not compromise the integrity of your shipping container. If you want to reach Insta Container Modifications website click this link. The video for the whole instructional is below. Enjoy!
