I was super excited when I found this on the internet. It appears to be a super solid design for garage organization and storage.
With two 20' shipping containers (my guess at present time in the Phoenix, AZ Market under $6,000) you have the backbone for an amazing area for storage and organization.
For those of you interested in extra space for your house or ranch, this could be a cost effective way of getting it done for under $10,000.
This out of the box idea also offers an idea for additional living space. The two 20' cargo containers offer 320 square feet of space. This offers an array of organization and storage ideas.
As you can see from the design in the picture, you have a good amount of open space in addition to outlets, a sink, and a fridge.
For the flooring you could use and color or theme you would like.
I also like their sliding door addition. You could just as easily add roll up doors, window, etc.
My guess, very rough estimate, is that if you did most of the labor yourself, this could be an under $10,000 DIY project.
My numbers are below:
2- 20' Shipping Containers- $6,000 (with delivery)
Running the Electrical- $500
Flooring- $1,000 if using solid garage flooring ($2.40 per 12x12 tile and its 320 square feet).
Paint for the inside- $500 could be less but I'm assuming you are renting the sprayer and using Rustoleum which is about $35 a gallon
Doors- $1,000
Welding/Metal Fabrication- $1000 to weld and cut out window, doors, the containers (assuming you need to buy supplies and pay for labor).
Might not be a bad idea over a barn or traditional home addition which could be much more. You could even use solar panel over the generator and make the build even greener.
